From Water to Wet Storage
Shipping Flexibility: Wet storage in Ketchikan enables Seagrove to ship the freshest oysters on limited notice. Alaska Gems typically arrive within 24–36 hours of leaving the water.
The Wet Storage System
Seagrove’s wet storage system holds premium oysters in continuously circulating, ADEC-certified growing water. This allows oysters to relax and recondition before packing and helps maintain consistent supply during rainouts or harvest interruptions.
Wet storage improves shelf life by reducing post-harvest stress, lowering mortality during shipping, and ensuring a higher-quality product upon arrival.
Why Wet Storage Matters:
- Reduced post-harvest stress
- Lower mortality during shipping
- Improved shelf life
- Higher quality upon arrival
Full-chain Traceability with BlueTrace Technology
Seagrove utilizes BlueTrace technology across the entire supply chain, including:
- Harvest Tags
- Receiving and holding records
- Inventory tracking
- Shipping documentation
- Dealer tags
- Invoicing
Every lot is digitally tracked from farm to final destination, ensuring transparency, regulatory compliance, and rapid documentation access when needed.
Suspended Culture in OysterGro Cages
Seagrove oysters grow beneath the surface of the water in suspended cages. These OysterGro cages allow the shellfish to tumble naturally with the currents and movement of the water. Since they are not intertidal, you get an entirely grit-free, briny bite with every shuck. This process also creates incredibly clean shells--Great for chefs and consumers, alike.
Processing and Quality Control
Advanced SED vision technology streamlines grading while maintaining strict quality control standards. Efficient flow from processing to wet storage minimizes handling time and preserves freshness.
Seagrove’s custom-designed grading and processing line ensures every oyster is:
- Washed
- Individually inspected
- Accurately sized
- Electronically counted
A great product reflects its origin, and the care behind it. At Seagrove, respect for the entire value chain shows in every oyster.
